Kilimanjaro Trekking Rongai Route

7 Days | 6 Nights Trekking

Rongai route provide a unique way of climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro. This Route is moderately difficult and is highly recommended, especially for those with less backpacking experience. It starts at the North side of the Mount, goes through the coniferous forest, offering fantastic views. 

The route is friendly for the bigginers. Arrive Tanzania, pick up transfer to the hotel in Arusha. Relax, sort gear and explore Arusha, stay at hotel (Optional)

DAY 1: Drive to Rongai gate process permit, trek to Simba camp site Distance 7km/4.43miles/max 5hrs, (2635m/8645ft)

DAY 2: Trek to Simba campsite/ Second cave Distance 5.8 km/3.59miles/max 6hrs, (3487m/11440ft)

DAY 3: Trek to Kikelelwa camp site, Distance 3.3km/2.04miles/ max 3hrs, (3675m/12057ft)

DAY4:  Trek to Mawenzi turn hut, Distance 3.75km/ 2.32 miles/Max 4hrs, ( 4302m/14114ft)

DAY 5: Trek to kibo hut Distance 8.9 km/5.5 miles/max 6hrs, (4714m/15466ft)

DAY 6: SUMMIT DAY: Trek  to Uhuru peak, Distance 6.25km/3.8miles/Max 7hrs, (5895m/19340ft) Then descend to Mweka gate

DAY 7: Transport to the airport or extra night at the hotel or safari to explore other North parks

There are several routes for summiting Kilimanjaro however all routes provides beautiful sceneries to experience Kilimanjaro’s different vegetation zones as you trek up. While it is possible to summit for six (6) days, we native tours recommend 6 to 8days climbing to assist with altitude acclimatization.
