Kilimanjaro Trekking Marangu Route

7 Days | 6 Nights Trekking

This is a most popular way up to Kilimanjaro, this route has a moderate slope that make it a bit difficult to climb. This is the only route that has emergency evacuation service. Ascend and descend is by the same trail.  Recommended for climbers with high altitude mountaineering experience. This is the only non camping route with accommodation in huts. Arrive Tanzania, pick up transfer to the hotel in Arusha. Relax, sort gear and explore Arusha, stay at hotel (Optional)

DAY 1: Drive to Marangu gate process permit, have lunch trek to Mandara huts, Distance: 8.3km/5.14miles/max 6hrs, (2723m/8934ft)

DAY 2: Trek to Horombo hut, Distance 12.5km/ 7.75miles/Max 8hrs, (3721m/ 12208ft)

DAY 3: Trek to Kibo hut, Distance 9.5km/5.89miles/Max 8hrs, (4714m/15466ft)

DAY 4: SUMMIT DAY: Trek to Uhuru peak Distance 6.25km/3.87miles/Max7hrs, (5895m/ 19340ft)

DAY 5: Descend to Horombo hut, Distance 15.75km/9.76miles/max 6 hrs

DAY 6: Descend to Marangu gate, Distance 20 km/12.4miles/max 6hrs

DAY 7: Transport to the airport or extra night at the hotel or safari to explore other North parks

There are several routes for summiting Kilimanjaro however all routes provides beautiful sceneries to experience Kilimanjaro’s different vegetation zones as you trek up. While it is possible to summit for six (6) days, we native tours recommend 6 to 8days climbing to assist with altitude acclimatization.
